Failure Isn’t Final. It’s Required.
Failure isn’t final.
Trial and error. Experimentation. They sound nice, but what they really mean is simple. Try. Fail. Adjust. Try again. Until you succeed.
I talk a lot about failure and life lessons. Some people think that means all I do is fail. But the truth is, the path to achieving anything substantial is filled with small failures on the way to success.
We’ve been taught that failure is bad. I want to change your mind. If you really want to achieve your dreams, failure won’t just happen, it will be required. And when you see it that way, it’s not even a big deal.
Think about it.
How many failed relationships have you been in? How many dates went nowhere? Did that stop you from searching for love?
How many foods have you tried in your life that you hated? Even when you made the lemon face and spit it out, did that stop you from eating altogether?
When you were a child, how many times did you try to stand, only to fall? How many times did you try to walk and failed? Hundreds of times. Would it have made sense to quit after the hundredth fall? Of course not.
But for some reason, we stop applying that same principle to the things we want most. Starting a business. Writing a book. Making content. Becoming a better partner. Growing in your walk with God. Building your body, mind, and spirit.
The formula is always the same.
Try. Fail. Adjust. Try again.
Thomas Edison, after thousands of attempts to invent the lightbulb, famously said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
That’s the truth. The most successful people in any field have failed more times than unsuccessful people have even tried. In fact, they have often failed more times than others have even thought about trying.
So why do we act like failing at our dreams is the end?
It’s not. Failure is required.
Your dreams are waiting.
Don’t fear failure.
Fear never walking.
